prayers to keep us sane: mantra of peace
Hide us under the shadow
of thy wings :
drive far from us every enemy and
adversary
O holy God, holy and mighty, holy and immortal,
have mercy on us
O holy God, holy and mighty, holy and immortal,
have mercy on us
O holy God, holy and mighty, holy and immortal,
have mercy on us
The Trisagion
Compass us round about with thy holy angels
that, guided and guarded by their host,
we may attain unto faith and unto the full understanding
of thy divine glory.
Blessed art thou unto ages of ages.
I do not come to thee, O Christ my God,
in my own pride, but made bold by thy gracious goodness and afraid lest
I stray far away from thy fold and become the prey of the wolf of souls.
I pray thee,
sanctify my soul and body, my mind and
heart;
renew me entirely;
implant thy fear in my members;
let thy hallowing be mine for ever.
St. John Chrysostum
O Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy upon
me, a sinner.
Bring my soul out of prison, that I may give thanks
unto they Name.
We bow down our heads to the Lord.
Before the glorious throne of thy majesty,
O Lord, and before the awful judgement seat of thy burning love, we thy
people kneel with cherubim and seraphim, with angels and archangels, worshipping,
confessing and praising you, Living Lord of all..
Strengthen, O Lord, the hands which have
been stretched out to receive thy holy gifts, that they may daily bring
forth fruit to thy glory.
Grant that the ears which have heard thy songs may
be closed to the noise of clamour and dispute;
that the eyes which have seen thy great love may
behold thy blessed hope;
that the tongues which have uttered thy praise may
speak the truth;
that the feet which have walked in thy courts may
walk in the region of light;
that the souls and bodies which have fed upon thy
living Body may be restored to newness of life.
And with us may thy great love abide for ever, that
we may abundantly render back praise - praise to thy eternal majesty.
Amen
We give thanks unto thee, O King Invisible, who
by thy measureless might hast fashioned all things, and by the depth of
thy mercy hast brought every thing into being from naught.
Do thou from heaven, O Master, look down upon those
who have bowed down their heads before thee; for it was not before flesh
and blood that they bowed, but before thee, O all potential, God.
Do thou therefore, O master, make smooth for each
one of us the way that lies ahead according to our special needs. Do thou
travel with those that travel, by land or by water, or by air. Do thou,
O Physician of our souls and bodies, heal the sick; for the grace and the
love towards mankind of thine only begotten Son, with whom thou art glorified,
together with thy most holy, gracious and life-giving Spirit, now, and
for ever, and unto the ages of ages.
Amen
